Why owls? The truth is, I don't know. But for some reason, I see owls everywhere. I never try to be realisitic with my paintings, I leave that for photography, instead, I paint like a kid. There is paint in my hair, on my clothes, under my fingernails and I love every minute of it.
When I painted the owls, I had no intention of doing anything with them, I painted them for the pure joy of creating. But the more I painted, the more my walls filled up, and then one day I came home and realized that 150 owls on four walls in a tiny apartment was getting out of hand. So, I decided to share them with the world. After the initial show at the Kirsten Art Gallery, I put what didn't sell up in a local coffee shop. I ended up selling over 80 paintings in total!
